June 5 – Seeking Counsel

 Proverbs 11:14

“For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisers.”

SITREP:
Who’s in your corner when the decision is heavy? Every mission—whether tactical, moral, or spiritual—needs more than instinct. Wise leaders seek counsel. Surround yourself with godly people who can offer wisdom and perspective in important decisions.

This proverb, credited to King Solomon, is born from battlefield and throne-room experience alike. As Israel’s king, Solomon didn’t operate solo. He led with the help of elders, commanders, and prophets. Why? Because even the wisest man needs counsel. History shows it—nations fall without it. But where there’s good counsel, there’s victory.

Breaking Down the Verse:

  • "For lack of guidance a nation falls…" – This isn’t just about politics. It’s about leadership, families, and even personal direction. Go it alone too long, and collapse is coming.
  • "…but victory is won through many advisers." – This isn’t weakness. It’s strategy. Multiple sets of eyes catch what one man can’t. Wisdom compounds when shared.

How This Shapes a Soldier’s Faith:

Military training teaches self-reliance. You learn to trust your gut, make fast decisions, and adapt under pressure. But when the uniform comes off—or when the internal battles start—those instincts can turn into isolation.

  • Maybe you’ve been carrying guilt alone.
  • Maybe you’ve made decisions in secret because you didn’t want to burden others.
  • Maybe you think that asking for input means you’re less of a leader.

That’s a lie.

Proverbs 11:14 is your release order from that mindset.

Victory isn’t just about power—it’s about perspective.

  • Got a hard call to make? Ask someone who knows the terrain.
  • Struggling to move past a moral injury? Talk to someone who’s walked through it and found peace.
  • Lost in the fog of your own thoughts? Bring in someone with God’s light to help you navigate.

This isn’t about groupthink—it’s about spiritual backup. You weren’t meant to lead, heal, or rebuild alone. Soldiers train in teams, deploy in squads, and recover in units. Your spiritual walk should be no different.

ENDEX:
Leadership isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about knowing where to find them. Proverbs 11:14 reminds you that real strength is found in shared wisdom. Don’t isolate. Seek counsel. Victory doesn’t come from standing alone—it comes from standing surrounded.

AAR:
Who’s helped you see clearly when the mission got cloudy? Share a time when godly advice gave you clarity, courage, or correction—and helped you stay on course. Your story might be the backup someone else needs.

Make your voice count—share what you’ve lived.

Share your experiences in the comments below. Your words could encourage someone else walking a similar path.

If you're comfortable, include as much or as little personal detail as you’d like. We suggest:

  • Name
