March 5 – Walking by Faith, Not Sight
2 Corinthians 5:7 – "For we live by faith, not
by sight."
Reflection: A soldier often has to trust his training
and orders without seeing the full picture. Walk in faith, knowing God is
guiding your every step.
The Apostle Paul wrote 2 Corinthians to
encourage believers to stay faithful despite hardships. In chapter 5,
he reminds them that this world is temporary, and they must trust in God’s
eternal promises, even when they cannot see them clearly.
In 2 Corinthians 5:7, Paul delivers a short but
powerful truth:
- "For
we live by faith, not by sight." – Faith means trusting in
God’s plan, even when the path ahead is unclear.
- Walking
by sight means relying only on what we can see and understand,
which limits our ability to trust God’s greater purpose.
- Walking
by faith means believing in God’s guidance, wisdom, and promises,
even when the road ahead is uncertain.
This verse teaches that faith is not based on
circumstances—it is based on confidence in God’s leadership.
How This Applies to a Soldier’s Faith
For a soldier, 2 Corinthians 5:7 is a reminder that trust
is essential in both military operations and faith. Here’s how this verse
applies:
- Trust
in the Mission, Even Without the Full Picture
- Soldiers
often don’t see the entire battle plan—they must trust their
leadership and training.
- Likewise,
God knows the full strategy, and believers must follow Him even
when they can’t see the whole path.
- Faith
Requires Moving Forward Without Fear
- Just
as warriors advance in combat with courage, believers must step
forward in faith, trusting that God is leading them.
- Fear
is natural, but faith means acting in obedience, even when the outcome
is uncertain.
- God
is the Ultimate Commander
- A
soldier follows orders with discipline, trusting that their
leaders see the bigger picture.
- Spiritually,
this verse reminds them that God sees what they cannot, and they must
trust Him to lead them through every situation.
- Walking
by Sight Limits What is Possible
- If
soldiers only acted on what they could see, they would miss strategic
opportunities.
- Faith
enables believers to move beyond human limits, trusting in God’s power
and provision.
ENDEX
2 Corinthians 5:7 is a soldier’s command to trust in
God’s leadership. Just as warriors follow orders without always seeing
the full mission plan, believers must trust that God is guiding them every step
of the way. Faith is about moving forward with confidence, knowing that
God is in control—even when the path ahead is unclear.
