February 12 – Marching by Faith, Not Sight

2 Corinthians 5:7 – "For we live by faith, not by sight."

Reflection: A soldier follows orders even without knowing the full battle plan. Trust in God’s command, even when you cannot see what lies ahead.

The Apostle Paul wrote 2 Corinthians to encourage the believers in Corinth, reminding them to stay strong in faith despite hardships. In this chapter, Paul speaks about the temporary nature of life on earth compared to the eternal home believers have with God.

In 2 Corinthians 5:7, Paul states:

  • "For we live by faith, not by sight." – This means that believers must trust in God’s promises, even when they can’t see the full picture.
  • Faith requires confidence in God’s plan, even when circumstances seem uncertain.

This verse is a call to trust in God rather than relying solely on what is seen or understood through human reasoning.

How This Applies to a Soldier’s Faith

For a soldier, 2 Corinthians 5:7 is a command to trust in God’s plan, even when the path ahead is unclear. Here’s how this verse applies:

  1. Trusting the Mission Even When the Outcome is Unknown
    • Soldiers often step into dangerous and uncertain situations, following orders without knowing the full strategy.
    • This verse reminds them that faith requires the same mindset—trusting God even when the way forward isn’t clear.
  2. Walking by Faith Requires Courage
    • In combat, soldiers must move forward even in fear, relying on their training.
    • Spiritually, believers must move forward in faith, trusting God to guide them, even when they don’t understand everything.
  3. Victory is Not Always Visible Immediately
    • Some battles seem unwinnable at first, but staying the course leads to ultimate victory.
    • This verse reassures soldiers that God is at work, even when they can’t see the results yet.
  4. Faith Over Fear
    • Just as soldiers are trained to trust their leaders and strategy, believers must trust God’s plan over fear and doubt.
    • This verse encourages them to walk forward in faith, knowing that God is leading them.

ENDEX

2 Corinthians 5:7 is a soldier’s call to trust in God’s unseen plan. Just as warriors move forward in battle without always seeing the full picture, believers must live by faith, knowing that God is in control, even when the way is unclear. True victory belongs to those who trust in God’s unseen hand.
